Valheim 1.0 Patch Notes: Hotfix 1.0.10 & 1.0.12
What the official 1.0.10 and 1.0.12 hotfixes change: Deep North armour repairs, an achievement opt-in devcommand, banlist ID fixes, and Switch 2 crossplay workarounds.
Iron Gate shipped two hotfixes on 11 September 2026, two days after the 1.0 launch. Patch 1.0.10 (all platforms) makes Deep North heavy armour repairable and fixes Greydwarf Shaman damage. Patch 1.0.12 (Steam first) fixes Forge of Potential recipes, preserves item stand durability, accepts old banlist IDs, and adds an achievement opt-in devcommand. Switch 2 crossplay is temporarily unavailable, with a default_old beta workaround for Steam.
The 1.0 launch on 9 September 2026 was quickly followed by the first wave of fixes. On 11 September 2026, Iron Gate released two hotfixes: 1.0.10 for all platforms and 1.0.12 (Steam first, rolling out to other platforms). This page tracks both updates against the official announcement.

Patch 1.0.10 — All Platforms
From the official hotfix announcement:
- Deep North heavy armour can now be repaired.
- Greydwarf Shamans in Deep North now deal appropriate amounts of damage and healing.
- Punching no longer removes snow; landing on snow (rather than walking through it) now removes it.
- Sound effects updated for several creatures and the Deep North snow.
The armour repair fix matters most to endgame players: the new polar armour set could not be serviced at launch, which left a gap in the 1.0 progression loop.
Patch 1.0.12 — Steam First, Crossplay Compatible
The 1.0.12 fixes are fully crossplay compatible and will reach all platforms in an upcoming hotfix:
- Forge of Potential no longer unlocks recipes that should not be unlocked.
- Item stand durability preserved: items on armour and item stands no longer lose durability and upgrade level, if the world has not yet been loaded in the 1.0 update. Iron Gate is still working on a better fix — if you have been playing 1.0, do not remove high-level items (fish, weapons, armour) from stands without backups.
- Fixed a crash that could trigger when players accessed a zone that was not loaded.
- Banlist and whitelist now accept old IDs (for example
Steam_123456789) alongside the new format (V_123456789). - Achievement opt-in command: a popup now clarifies when achievements can be received again, and a new devcommand re-enables achievements after devcommands or mods were used.
- The Cart fits through the Timberwood Drawbridge more easily.
- Jotun Puffs and Magecaps received a visual fix.
Switch 2 Crossplay Status
The hotfix could not be uploaded to Switch 2, so crossplay between Switch 2 and other platforms is currently unsupported. Two workarounds exist right now:
- Steam to Switch 2 (including dedicated servers): right-click Valheim (or Valheim Dedicated Server) in your Steam library → Properties → Game Versions & Betas → select
default_old, then let the game update. Note that you will be playing without the 1.0.10/1.0.12 fixes. - PlayStation 5 / Xbox to Switch 2: there is currently no workaround.
What This Means for Your World
- If you built in the Deep North, the heavy armour you could not repair is now serviceable.
- If achievements were locked by earlier devcommands use, the 1.0.12 opt-in command restores them.
- If you run a dedicated server, review your banlist and whitelist: both ID formats now work, so old entries no longer need to be re-added.
- Before removing high-level gear from item stands in a 1.0 world, make a backup — the durability fix is partial until the follow-up hotfix lands.
Frequently Answered Questions
Can you repair Deep North heavy armour in Valheim 1.0?
Yes. Hotfix 1.0.10, released 11 September 2026, added the ability to repair the Deep North heavy armour. The same patch rebalanced Greydwarf Shaman damage and healing and updated snow behaviour and sound effects.
Can you get achievements after using devcommands in Valheim 1.0?
Hotfix 1.0.12 added an opt-in command: typing yesiuseddevcommandsbutiwantmyachievementsanyway re-enables achievements even if devcommands or mods were previously used. Iron Gate notes the decision is left to your own judgement.
Is Switch 2 crossplay available in Valheim 1.0?
Not yet. The 1.0.12 hotfix could not be uploaded to Switch 2, so crossplay between Switch 2 and other platforms is temporarily unavailable. Steam players can restore Steam to Switch 2 crossplay by selecting the default_old beta branch, at the cost of missing the hotfix fixes.
Did hotfix 1.0.12 fix item stand durability loss?
Partially. Items on armour and item stands no longer lose durability and upgrade level if the world has not been loaded since 1.0. If you have been playing 1.0, Iron Gate warns not to remove high-level items from stands without backups, as a better fix is still being worked on.
